Really? I never heard this song. I went to youtube figuring it may have been a song I heard in passing but nope not at all. Its a decent song and I like some Polo G music. But this doesn't feel like a "hit" song. If you would have told me on this day in 2011 that this would be the number 1 song in 10 years. Id be severely disappointed

Group think + the youth will push anything they feel like pushing. That much I DO know.

I've never SEEN this song until this thread popped up.

I listened to his album last year because I've seen so many people big him up. Like Rod Wave, I don't see the science. Paint by the numbers production and soundscape. Hip Hop has ten thousand producers but very few with an interesting sound or real musicianship.

I guess I do like him, just not the music yet. All the music is too one-note rooted in trauma. Now that I'm in my 30s I can't put myself through that shyt. Back then, artists could still be artists and have fun.

His ceiling? Probably 70-100k first weeks like a lot of big artists nowadays. He's a known commodity at this point with a ton of fans. And he can really rap.

He's not a "hit" rapper tho, a lot of his music is slower, more nuanced music, he doesn't do a ton of bangers. He might be a bigger G Herbo, both from the same city and both have a rep of being "real rappers" but Polo doesn't have the gang ties holding him down commercially.

He already sold that much.

Polo is or is affiliated with BD’s also.

His ceiling is defining street/conscious rapper for the Gen Z generation. He can spit and harmonize and he has content his only issue is weak production and he can be a lil preachy/melodramatic at times.

This song shooting up all the way to number one is the industry pushing the button. Columbia is doing their thing with Polo G, Lil Nas X, and Lil Tjay.

From what I'm to understand Polo doesn't claim no gang he just from the same hood as a few and cool with them on some professional/music shyt. I could be wrong tho. :yeshrug:

I agree with everything you said for the most part, but I think Polo is a lot less plant than the other 2, he had a longer road to success and had actual underground growth before the deal. Lil nas x is basically a plant altho he started out with a legit viral hit, lil tjay was more known for shyt he did out of the booth than in it.
