If the best and brightest come to this country, wouldn't they be the ones competing for middle and upper class jobs, not poor and illegal immigrants?

And as far as entitlement programs that people say illegals drain, AMERICANS do that all on their own. Immigrants take a small percentage in comparison.

US citizens also dwarf the crime rate.

All of this is basic common sense and logic. People who complain about immigrants are either ignorant, or simply use them as an excuse for why they didn't make it in life.

Well, most of the high earning Republicans, and politicians know this, but they would rather have black people doing those jobs so we make just enough to not qualify for assistance, but not enough to compete with them.

The white people making less money complain because the only thing they have to feel proud of in life is their skin color. The white janitor thinks he's better than the black attorney while vacuuming the floor of his law office.

They are also not factoring in all the illegals that stand on corners at the crack of dawn, and get picked up for contracting work for the day, and get paid in cash to do landscaping, painting, and home construction. Those people are not getting paid on the books, and don't pay taxes, yet they're not mad at the contractors who hire them for cheap labor. It's the same thing with farms. It's hard to find legal Americans who will go out in the heat and sun, and pick crops for low wages, especially white Americans who are allergic to the sun. If those farmers paid higher wages, the price of fruits and vegetables would go up.

Who was that illegal immigrant who ended up making 300,000 dollars a year from Goldman Sachs?

no, its mostly low skilled workers. who compete with low skilled workers here, and depress their wages

this thread isnt very well thought out :skip:

You’re looking at it backwards. A low skilled American has simply evened the playing field by choice. Immigrants come to this country to find opportunities a lot of people take for granted. The education system as a whole is laughable.

Low skill jobs don’t matter. It doesn’t lead to upward mobility. It’s the immigrants that come to this country and get the high paying tech jobs or the foreigners that buy real estate driving up prices (and don’t even live in the country) that hurt more.

And it still doesn’t solve the problem or outsourced labor. Mexico for example recruits deportees that speak fluent English to fill call center jobs which are used exclusively by American companies. :russ:

It’s all rhetoric.

You got unskilled immigrants comin here
You got unskilled americans here
You got skilled immigrants coming here
You got skilled amwricans here

You got everything of everything everywhere.
However i would assume unskilled immigrants are harder workers than unskilled americans

There are probably 30 million+ illegal immigrants in the US. All of them forging documents, working under the table, and staying off the grid to live here. We're talking 1/10 our population :wow:. Now, all of those low skill laborer jobs that used to prop up the working class are going to someone who HAS to work off the grid for a fraction of what Americans would make doing those jobs. Used to be, so long as you kept your nose clean and got your high school diploma, you could find a job and support a family.

And for the "Americans would never do that work!" crowd, yeah we're not going to do pick lettuce for $5/hr, no benefits and the constant threat of never being paid. I used to work in a Kenney warehouse pitching shoe boxes for what was then about $7-8/hr plus over time which was $2-3 more than minimum wage. In the summers, we'd make sometimes 2X overtime working I think it was 60hrs/week+. I went to college in the midwest and college kids would go work the wheat harvest and make enough to pay for college. It's hard work but it was WORTH IT. All those little rural towns were propped up by living wages.

Those jobs are all inaccessible to citizens now. Any outfit big enough to need that much labor is going to hire a crew of illegal immigrants and pay them 1/2 the going rate under the table. I think it was Tonganoxie, KS the mayor and governor was all set to celebrate setting up a chicken plant in town thinking people would just say "oooh jobs!" But people aren't stupid anymore. They know that plant was just going to hire illegal immigrants and a handful of middle managers, then leave the city to eat the costs of assimilating thousands of immigrants, housing, policing, medical, and infrascture costs while Tyson chicken got a tax holiday. The residents said :camby: to that shyt.

If what you say is true then what we have is selective outrage and cherrypicking when it comes to deportations. Shouldn't ICE be able to go to these factories and simply do audits. Check I9 forms?

It's also ironic that these corporations using illegal laborers generally give money to and support the very same party that are trying to get rid of them.

They got their tax cuts and don't want raise the minimum wage. They are literally having their cake, eating it with ice cream and returning for seconds.

This is the richest country in the world yet income inequality is at an all time high. 1.5 trillion in tax cuts going to mostly wealthy individuals yet the working class wanna blame illegal immigrants who's GDP is pennies when compared to the overall economy. LEGAL immigrants take more significant positions.

Like I said, other factors affect American employment opportunities such as race age and gender but that gets glossed over and ignored for Mexicans picking strawberries in the middle of nowhere or Guatemalans making beds.

If you didn't finish high school or got a GED with a meh work history you can't blame illegal immigrants for you making $8.00 an hour at a dead end job.

Illegal immigrants don't effect the rising cost of living either. Nor do they effect rising housing costs. The upper middle class, wealthy Americans and foreign investment do.

Then people complain about illegals on welfare and food stamps like they suck on that entitlement more than actual Americans:mjpls:

But to your point, it's cheaper to overall and regulate employee record keeping and verification practices than it is to build a wall. If ALL employers knew they faced quarterly surprise audits, they would pause the practice of hiring undocumented immigrants and the only jobs they would gravitate to are minor if any at all.
