"Because we live in a capitalistic society where materialism and consumerism are part of the culture"

Do you agree with this? :skip:

On one point it is correct we do live in a capitalist society... BUT..... We're not in positions to live beyond our means a rich person has no problems buying a luxury item but YOU of all people should realize your financial limits and humble yourself. :coffee:

If you follow sheep you're just mindless with no foresight of your own... you don't need to always cop the new Iphone just because it's new...:manny:

I really don't think an iPhone is beyond most people's means. Unless you're some illegal making $3 an hour. I own my iPhone but when I leased my 6s it was 17 a month. That's 2.5 hours at minimum wage a month is that really some ridiculous cost only reserved for rich people?

:dahell: Whatever happened to the days when we brought our phones outright??? There should be no reason for you to "lease" your phones... Apple done ruined the game... :snoop:

She basically admitted what i have seen MANY broke people admit (the materialism/consumerism society part). that they're mostly buying them because they're trying to emulate what they think richer people buy. Anytime they talk about it, they basically say something that amounts to trying to copy what they think richer people buy. It's not because most of them "want" it, they think they're doing what richer people do (she even mentioned rich people at the end).

What they don't get is that people of higher incomes aren't all the same. I know some who have had the same phone for awhile, and some are not even iPhones. These ppl i'm referring to aren't wealthy but they are well-off. They could definitely afford to buy them and not even miss the money, but they don't want or care about them. Some of them do buy the new iPhone but you'd be surprised how many don't even care about that. Some are so busy that they don't even care what type of phone they have, as long as it does what they need it to.

If your reason for buying every iPhone that drops is that you "deserve to have the same things rich people do"......you're a follower and sort of misguided as well, because some of them don't even care about iPhones like that.

And I'm not saying poor people can't buy iPhones. I just don't like how after a lot of them buy them, they complain about how broke they are. Some even expect pity. I don't want to hear how broke you are.

Getting on facebook from a $1000 phone to post about how broke you are :mjlol:"just trying to make it, got all these bills, lord help me. need a raise, or a second job" :beli:"it's unfair how high rent is"

Yes, people can buy what they want. Just don't seek pity after you buy stuff though :yeshrug:

There are many broke people who could have used some of their paycheck to improve their situation, but they buy iphones, jordans, gucci belts, and other stuff instead because they think that's what rich people are doing.

All i'm saying is all these nikkas complaining about being broke could have invested or something by now. I don't have a problem with them buying iphones, i just think it's dumb that they buy them and then complain about being broke

You are what you consume or how you earn your money...

She and many others are just a casualty of capitalism....

Frankly, most people aren't broke because they own a nice TV or an expensive phone. Some are victims of their bad choices but most of the problem stems from the worsening income inequality (talking about the US primarily). Also, most people regardless of income/wealth make poor short-term financial decisions. Poor people aren't immune just because they're poor. Stop with the "bootstrap" fallacies.

And for the record, ya boy makes hella bread so don't even try it.

People are making quick come ups out here on cryptocurrency with just a $1,000 or even less invested, but these broke idiots on twitter and instagram are stunting with their paycheck, trying to mimic those who wipe their asses with hundred dollar bills. :francis:
