Pop created the spurs building around Duncan and great drafting for players in his system.
Riley had the Lakers dynasty (I'm too young to know how much roster influence he had) He had the Knicks looking good (for the Knicks) and he's built that 1st Miami champ team and then he's put the right type of players around the Big 3 in this run.
So who's the better overall basketball mind and talent evaluator?

I'd lean towards Riles because he's taken three different franchises to the Finals and won five rings, all with different playing styles too.

pop has truly built a culture. the teams been a title contender for more than half of my damn life. and it's all from within, much more sustainable. i like riles for the flash, but pop damn near has a cult. it's too reliable to ignore.

Pop. Dude turns scrubs into role players and role players into stars. Let's not act like Manu or Tony Parker were projected to be stars, and yet he took Timmy and those 2 and made a big 3 out of them. Pop all the way... COME TO OKC POP :sadcam:

id have to go with Pop, but its no slight im a big fan of Pat

its the little things, benching a whole starting 5..getting the max out of the Diaw's Horry's and Patty Mills of the world. its a very fascinating thing to watch unfold

Well it seems pretty clear Pop is the answer :leon:
How so?

Would it have been clear Riley was the answer this time last year?

Not to mention, I have the feeling that if Riley was the actual coach for this Miami team right now the series might look different (might not though, chances are he would have run everyone into the ground three months ago).

the built team is dominating the bought team. it's a hard comparison since Riles isn't coaching but this ass whooping is something else

Pop.

the Nuggets don't have the luxury of being a glamour-market team so going the Spurs route is the only realistic way of competing for a title.
