Alright so how does taking Duren fix anything?

The problem with the Spurs right now is they don't have a Center who is a scoring threat.
And the solution here is to draft a Center who isn't a scoring threat.

What?

Unless this kid is going have Rudy Gobert-level defense, I don't see the point. You're still going to have a roster with spacing issues that's heavily reliant on their guards to do all their scoring. Like, WTF is this?
If they're going this route they should have just fukkin taken Kai Jones last year. It's the same shyt.

I don't know. What am I missing here?

Spurs should take Tari Eason

Depends where he's taken.
I am not in love with that pick at 9.

At pick 20....I like it a lot more. He won't be there at 20 though. And I think at 9, the Spurs are better off with Duren for no other reason than his ceiling is higher.

Kevin Broom (@So_Wizards on Twitter) has a draft eval tool called YODA (Ye Olde Draft Analyzer) and based on initial measurements and production, he has Murray at #1, Chet #2, and Eason at #3.

If Eason develops a left hand, keeps shooting that 3 at a higher level... I dunno man, guy could become a monster as he has the physical tools.

Spurs need defensive DOGS who can defend the perimeter and PFs... plus save Keldon's body from having to always play the 4.

Agreed. Murray and Vassell should be the starting backcourt. I'd almost rather see Richardson play the 3 and hopefully snag a Day 1 starter PF in the draft and Jakob at C. I don't know if Pop would entertain moving Keldon to the bench, but letting Tre Jones, Primo and Keldon be your perimeter guys off the bench with whatever backup bigs should lead to opportunities to outwork opposing benches. Whoever the Spurs draft, they need to axe this G-league bullshyt and let them hang and learn from the main squad.

Spurs can easily combine picks and move up..

Will be interesting..

Lonnie is probably outta here
He's had plenty of chances to show consistency and growth. He hasn't. I'd hate to see him go because he is still so athletically gifted.
But in 4 years his shot hasn't improved. His defense hasn't improved. He comes off the bench and you'd think that against other teams' 2nd unit, he'd ball out. Then at least you could say "Hey, Lonnie Walker is our Lou Williams."

But no. He hasn't been able to show any of that.

So what are the Spurs hanging onto?

I was curious what ever happened to Luka Samanic?

He played 7 games in the G-League with the Knicks.

27.9 points
10.6 rebounds
3.3 assists
.549 FG%
.415 3P%

Yeah, it was 7 games. Knicks waived him in March. I just wonder if he's able to salvage his NBA career since it never really got off the ground.

Was it ever confirmed why the Spurs cut him so fast? I think he was lazy on defense in some preseason game and Pop lost it. At least that was the rumor. Anybody know what happened?

Bad attitude + bad effort + lack of real production. Lonnie is inconsistent as hell, but he at least tried hard :manny: Think the Knicks ended up cutting him before the end of the season as well.

NBA Mock Draft 2022: Spurs get help in the frontcourt

Ok so help me understand something here brehs... because as I'm reading this, the first prospect listed in that article is Jeremy Sochan. And regarding Sochan he writes:

"There are some flaws in Sochan’s game, specifically with his jump shot. And as much of a “cop-out” as this tends to be, let’s face the facts: Pairing one of the youngest prospects in this class with shooting coach Chip Engelland could help him develop into a serviceable shooter."

Now my problem is, how many guys come into the league with a trash jump shot and actually become good at it? I feel like either you have a jumper or you don't. So why should a team like the Spurs draft a 250 pound Matysse Thybulle 9th overall? To me you're passing up way too much ceiling. A Forward with good passing ability and defense is great. But a serviceable defensive Forward isn't that hard to find in this league.
Guys want the Spurs to draft another trash shooter and hope that Chip can fix it 3 years later? Nah man. fukk that noise.
