I know water is wet but geeeeez.

The landscape is pretty with the mountains in the background. But the city itself doesn’t move me.

People have been very nice. Like overly nice. Please give me ur culture nice:lolbron:

Food is meh. People HERE are impressed with it. Portlanders love Portland. All of the spots they RAVED about and insisted I go to or dragged me to were bland at best. Also somebody please teach white people to stay away from fennel seed. And avocado. It’s like the only seasoning they know to use to season vegan food. In two restaurants I wanted to go in the kitchen and cook my own shyt.

Seen three blacks. All of em with non-blks. Trying to avoid eye contact like they thot I was gonna report them.:mjlol:

Overcast weather. Dudes real bold here.

Guest lecture went well. Students weren’t expecting me to make them get out of their seats and actually be active learners.

Would become clinically depressed if I had to live here full-time.

LOTS of mentally ill white homeless people on the streets.

Make sense, Black Folks got pushed out of there.
What?!

Edit: I miss New Orleans.:wow: When I was in the NOLA, I was literally scrambling to find jobs at Tulane.

Damn near shed a tear at the airport when I had to leave.

In Portland, I already got my bags packed.
Got two more trips left in my research travel budget for the year. Out west ain’t it for me.:wow:

Grandparents used to live in keizer after they retired, which borders salem and we used to go to Portland often. It wasn't so bad before. fukk that City now. I don't know what happened, but the last time I was there I couldn't wait to leave. Which is a shame because like you said, the scenery is amazing

My brother thought about moving out there for a job. He eventually decided against it but he did say it was beautiful when he visited. He also said it was hipster heaven and seemed like a city sized version of Williamsburg Brooklyn :heh: I wanna take a visit out to the PNW one of these days.

:ohhh::ohhh::ohhh:...books, you're vegan?
I fell into it b/c I like the challenge of cooking plant-based foods and tricking my friends.:dead:
I haven’t eaten meat in a while but I’m not crazy strict about it. I have friends who eat everything so I like being able to cook with whatever is available if need be, meat or otherwise. But for myself, yeah it’s been a minute since I had meat or dairy.
