St Louis Rams!!!!!
Was driving back to UT for College and the Austin Sports Radio was talking about how the National Collegiate Athletic Association had the conference this weekend to decide to pay College athletes and dude they had on there who went said it passed on a 79-1 vote.

Said UT will pay Students 5k a year. Im assuming this will change from school to school

Anybody else hear anything about this?

That budget will now be undergoing big changes at many schools as they adopt the cost of attendance measure. The figure will vary from school to school, because cost of attendance is determined by the financial aid office at each institution pursuant to federal guidelines. The range is said to start as low as $2,000 and go up as high as $6,000, and as the statement from Boston College alluded to, there is some concern that schools will be able to inflate that number while still staying within federal guidelines and gain a recruiting advantage.

If this is true, this is an excellent decision. There has to be a way to compensate the college players. How would you like it if you were an employee of a billion dollar industry and they didnt have to pay you at all for anything that you did?

Calm down y'all...student-athletes from the higher resource institutions can now get up to their full cost of attendance. So, a student-athlete that receives a full scholarship (tuition/fees, books, room and board) will now get a stipend up to their full cost of attendance (additional costs such as gas money, etc.) at a particular university. It will vary from institution to institution, state to state. HOWEVER, only a few schools can afford to pay all student-athletes full COA and will have a whole lot of number crunching to do in order to do it. This could be a good thing or very bad. Very bad being institutions cutting sports programs to keep up. Could be anywhere from $2,000-$5,000 a year some research has calculated. Maybe a little more.
