'Pre-Hillary' Gun Sales Soar to All-Time Monthly High

More than 2.3 million more guns are now in the hands of U.S. citizens.
Gun sales last month set a new record as people across the U.S. are preparing for the elections on Tuesday.

While sales are hard to track since many guns are purchased on the black market, FBI background checks are the best indicator. In October, the FBI processed more than 2.3 background checks—more than any other October on record, reported NPR.

Gun manufacturers recorded up to a double in profits, benefiting from the usual pre-election rush to buy guns in case a potential Hillary Clinton presidency would infringe on their gun rights. Some even advertised “Pre-Hillary” promotions, expecting a rise in prices should she win.

Monthly gun sales in 2016 have consistently set new records, especially after mass shootings and during gun rights debates.
