I'm thinking of purchasing some as a hedge against inflation. No more than 5% of my net worth.

What's everyone thoughts? Gold is obviously great but metals like silver and palladium are used in vehicles, semiconductors etc. Palladium is over priced now so I'm considering gold or silver.

Are you looking into physical assets or stocks as well? I wanted to get in on silver last month but the the price rose. Waiting for it to come down. I don’t know if I’m better off getting one ounce bars, some coins, or both.

Physical assets at this point. I'm in the same boat.

I’m in Texas so these two major places I’ve read about are reputable: jm bullion and apmex. That’s where I’m looking right now. I’m going to check smaller shops as well. I think the one ounce bars are going to stay around $35 for awhile.

$35/oz for silver is too high.

I'm getting started with this myself and looking at gold, silver, platinum, and even copper. Coins are all I'm considering since it'll double as a mini "hobby". I just need something outside of stocks/treasuries to park some money for a while. Ebay is where I'm posting up since a lot of the independent bullion traders are on there anyway and you can score some discounts/lots/"junk".

So even “junk” is worth investing in? Didn’t even think it was worth my time.

Cheap/easy way to gather various metals. Folks even salvage metals from electronics.
