Predator is the perfect action film

it starts out as an over the top shlock 80s action film with unbeatable badasses then subvertly turns into a horror film, where these badasses turn into the prey. the 1 on 1 fight between the predator and Arny is classic as well... not to mention the best alien design in cinema

I said the same thing last month to some friends. That Predator is probably the ultimate action flick. Not just 80s.

It's perfect. Every scene works and the pacing is perfect. In that sense it reminds me of Raiders Of The Lost Ark. You get a badass opening scene followed by an interesting exposition scene (where the stakes are explained). You meet the team. Action scene. Introduction of the monster. etc

Flip side with Raiders you get a badass opening action scene followed by an interesting exposition scene (where the stakes are explained). You meet the love interest. Action scene. etc

They just move so briskly and each action scene feels like it has stakes. Not just a CGI fest or some trivial rollercoaster ride type scene that doesn't truly go anywhere.
