Not sure How, but whenever he does he still will be looked at as a secondary player, just holding the main belt a la Seth Rollins.
The company so too top heavy with Main Event level faces. Everybody keeps igging my post on this, but Ima say it again.
Seth is coming back face, white hot without question. He'll be unturnable, he was damn near Face Already when he left.
Roman is gonna be face whether it makes sense or not and it really does tbh. It's his turn.
Dean is organically tapping into something that is gonna blow any PPV now. He's immune to W's and L's and has a real relationship with the audience Casuals and Hardcores.
All those dudes are one chess move away from being OVER. Booking is just playing chess with a blindfold on.
And Cena is not coming back to fued with Kalisto for the US belt. He's gonna get that strap atleast once before the year is out.
It's only one belt.
Cena has to turn heel. He's got to make room for these younger nikkas to get that top spot. And he has to put somebody over. That's just how wrestling works, and that's how it will ALWAYS WORK.
That's what the term "putting somebody over" even means. "Doing the favors", "Passing the torch", etc.
The big reason Roman ain't going to be the top guy, is there's already a top guy. I don't see how people can't see this. "They're trying to create the next Cena" but how can Roman be Cena, when Cena is still Cena!?
How can Ambrose get "A Run At The Top" when the top is occupied. This is basic logic. So their wins have been and will be meaningless.
That's why when he had the US strap the matches were better built and more prestigious than the MAIN BELT. Because whatever he does is THE MAIN EVENT. For Any of these guys to be seen as SUPERSTARS, the casual fan has to embrace the thought of "Hey, this guys even better than Cena." Till then they all are going to fail and people will say it's their fault.
Will they do it, fukk no. But right now is the time. It's time to start planning for life after Cena. This injury is the first sign that he's gonna break down soon. He can always come back be face or whatever. That's easy.
But he needs to put over some of the younger guys and do what's best for business. Its these dudes time man. He can GET ROMAN OVER, HE CAN GET SETH OVER, HE CAN GET AMBROSE OVER. THATS WHAT OGS ARE SUPPOSED TO DO. Once again will it happen? Hell no. Should it happen?! Hell yes.

Stopped reading when u said rollins was just a secondary player
Dean gives Reign's prescription medication for his injuries in the RAW opening, having to fight 2 matches per Authority orders. After the first match he OD's and Dean pins him as the mysterious 2nd wrestler. Post RAW Reigns is stabilized, but is suspended for using drugs and the Authority gives a 20 min promo about the dangers of prescription medication.

No, it doesn't work like that. Triple H and Stephanie are the clear top heels (when they remember to be). Every champion since has just been there to do their bidding.
So to that end, it makes sense for Triple H to just cut out the middle man and take the world title for himself.
