then 40 said this shyt " In hip-hop, you must write your own raps. If someone else were to write them for you, you'd have no credibility whatsoever, and you'd be out of the window immediately" and when they got exposed he tried to tweet that drake is a pioneer for stepping out of the normal boundaries in hip hop. man they need to take an eternal L for this :mjlol:

funny shyt was ... if you watch the game making of the documentary 2 video ... on the 3rd song step up, hes got an extra verse ... and its like "fukk you if you dont write your shyt, ill find out blah blah" and it was cut off the final version .. because he has a song with Drake called "100" "All I ever wanted was for you to keep it 8 more than 92 with me 100" :russ: then the whole fukking song is about beating people up for messing with drake

fast forward to 2:30 for the verse that was left off :mjlol:

Somehow I knew people wouldn't give Kendrick his props and just obsessed essays about Drake in this thread :russell:
Why not write essays about how excellent Kendrick is.

Presidential co-signs.
Keys to his hometown.
Critically acclaimed albums.

Brehs witnessing history and tryna down play it.
I wonder if it was like this when illmatic/reasonable doubt/ready to die/me against the world dropped.
Or in an R&B sense when Songs In The Key Of Life/What's Going On/Purple Rain/ Off the Wall dropped.

It's true, though. And no disrespect to Drake, but Kendrick's scope as an artist is a lot wider. Drake's lyrical content is usually about his relationship troubles, Toronto and being the man. At some point, you're going to need to branch out a little. But Drake's advantage is that he has a much more accessible sound and knows how to pen a hook. You're guaranteed hits and bangers when it comes to him. And there's nothing wrong with that all, he's gotten to where he is with that formula, so it's obviously a winning strategy. But this is exactly why I'm glad Kendrick didn't make GKMC 2 and instead went for something completely left field. People were laughing at him, called the album trash and said that it's going to have zero impact on the world. Fast forward nine months later, and look at where he's gotten to. It's crazy.

Now, if Drake came out on some Jay Electronica-level shyt, then this debate could very well become close if not completely switch over. But who knows what Views From The 6 contains? It could very well hold all that's necessary to change the tides of the discussion, and I hope he does. Competition in Hip Hop has always been a good thing, and I like Drake.
