aight so what should i do here??
i've been publishing books on amazon
i have an ongoing series starring the same man and woman
my target audience for this product is college educated, 30+ year old women
the marketing guides say writers should do social media to build an author fanbase
...instead, i created a twitter for "him" and an instagram for "her"
the kindle readers are directed to both accounts
and each points back to the amazon sales page
i thought it was pretty clear- the accounts are promos for the books
between official announcements when a new book is ready
the marketing guides say authors should include "fun filler"
so i let the accounts talk to each other in character
that was probably my second mistake
so back when i started, i bought the rights to stock photos
600+ images of two models - a man and a woman, inividually and together
i was using these for book covers but some weren't really suitable
so i started upping the extra pics to the "her" and his" accounts
welp ... "her" instagram starts to take off
dudes ignoring all the kindle links just thinking the imaginary character is a real woman
blowing up her messages and whatnot
i thought people were trolling me but no...they seem very serious
i am reading this bullshyt like
it's just pitiful
but how do i unwind this unintentional fukkery??
i don't want to alienate my actual readers
but i am also not trying to pretend i am a woman online
i thought of turning "her" instgram over to this company that specializes in social media for female performers but that's pricey
i also thought of having "her" create an amazon wishlist and a gofundme
but seriously, i'm trying to keep things classy here
