from like 80' to 87', he put out nothin' but classic music left and right, album to album with dirty mind, controversy, 1999, purple rain, around the world in a day, parade, sign o' the times (along with a bunch of unreleased music). then he was puttin' his people on by makin' albums for them like the time, sheila e, vanity 6, apollonia 6, the family, along with a long list of people he helped out back in the 80's (the bangles, stevie nicks, madonna etc)

it's crazy when you think about it. this brother was just makin' music and hittin' the skins (vanity, jill jones, sheila e,) day after day for almost 10 years straight :wow:

The fact that he was making other artists' albums besides his own and doing much of the production, songwriting, and instrument playing himself is ridiculous.

This video always has me in amazement and its just a practice.

Dude is easily one of the GOAT guitar players. And he was only 26. Think of Chris Brown doing this shyt now.

:wow:

That shyt boggles me to this day. As talented as The Time was ( those dudes had Morris Day, Jesse Johnson, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis all in one group) Prince still played every instrument and wrote that entire album. Only difference between that and a Prince album was the fact Morris Day sung lead.

Exactly. I think another dude playd bass on some of it but it was mostly all Prince.

He programmed those drums on 777-9311. Doesn't even make sense. He had his own machines, sounds, and everything on some Neptunes shyt. :why:

EDIT: Never mind. Prince did the ENTIRE song and was fukkin with people in the process just to say he could. :wow:

Guy on Prince forum said:
U pretty much answered your own question. The solo was P. The bass was P. The whole song was P. If u play guitar and u know P's style, u can easily tell that is P on that solo. It's his runs, it's his vibrato. One of the things that throw off most folks is the fact that P used a whammy bar, which was super rare for him at that time. But that's what Jesse always used, then and now. So that's why P used it. The effects that P used on that solo, a wah and an octive pedal, were what Jesse used on his leads on the first Time tour when they opened for P during Controversy. So P just duplicated Jesse's sound. P was very compettive. He wanted to show that he could burn like Jesse could. That's why when The Time were rehearsing, P walked in after recording the song and tossed a tape of 777 to Jesse and said "Hey, U play a mean guitar." fukking with him.

I always said Prince was more talented than MJ. Dude did it all. Could play 15+ instruments, did his own production, his own writing. and sometimes his own engineering too
