Fukk dj must-turd.

He took an entire regions sound, ran with it, cheapened it and gave zero credits.

People would occasionally bite production styles for a song or two, but never in the course of rap/hiphop has somebody drove it to the magnitude mustard has.

.

He cheapened it? It sounds like took a regions sound, SIMPLIFIED it and then applied a nice coat of gloss over . . increasing it's value on a mainstream level . . I don't know tho, that's just me :sas1:

i think it would be more accurately jacking guys like rick rock, sean t and to some extent rob lo.

Also Polow Da Don, fukk him, he didint produce throw some d's on it, my nikka e. smitty did it (choppas on deck) along with a host of other shyt hes stolen.

Yeah but Mistah Fab Mustard and Yg all got into that fight at the club over them biting that whole Bay Area Sound. I heard Yg's debut album, and then turned around a listened to one of Mistah Fab's older albums, and they sound very similar. Especially on production.

Rza and dj Muggs had a lot of influence on eachother back in da day

Muggs started that dark grimey style of production.... Then when Wu tang came out I heard a lot of Muggs in Rza's style

Then after Wu tang blew up it seemed like Rza was influencing Muggs style

After I listened to Third World I had to make sure it was Muggs who did the beat. That's a RZA sounding beat if I ever heard one then on Puppet Master that kind of sounds like a Dre type beat from that era too, maybe Muggs was going for a "let's see what styles I can incorporate" thing with that album.

rumored that Dr Dre took Cold 187um (from above the law) production style (most notably on black Mafia life album) with the high synthesizers and used it for The Chronic

I don't want to believe it and I kind of still don't but Black Mafia Life sounds exactly like The Chronic. And it was released months prior

always thought post 2008 Alchemist production was poor man's Madlib production

Dr Dre and Quik had many imitators in the early to mid 90s. QDIII is the main one

J Dilla's early production was really Pete Rock jr shyt. until he got his own style. Same with Kanye

They were recording Black Mafia Life while NWA was doing nikkaz4life. Dre def too the ideas and concepts of G Funk from Hutch if not the actual samples. but he also expanded on it a bit through replayong and Hutch built on it too, made it more of his own sound on Uncle Sams Curseand later albums.
