It seems that way and it is partly true but this is a piece of the puzzle of a bigger picture. Face value Saigon would not make sometbing commercial but who is dictating what is commercial? This shyt happens all time just cowards and bytches sell they soul for riches. A few artist always come through and do it there way (Kendrick, j cole, early kanye, some what drake) but you really gotta be talented for that.
Look at smart people like David banner big krit you telling me these dudes couldn't switch it up and put out some dumb shyt and be biggest stars? You gotta really listen to what your favorite artist are saying. Even flocka has a song saying fukk the industry. I'm done with this thread tho whoever gets it gets it, some people might wake up but most just gonna write me off as a conspiracy theorist :kanyeshruh: what you eat don't make me shyt
just because you can't prove your statements doesn't mean we sleep
hip hop's beef with "the industry" is just "the industry" wanting to make the money back that they sign an artist for, and the artist wanting to make their art with no sort of business plan in order. Hence Lupe's problem with the Lasers album. Homie had to write songs over & over because his label didn't think what he was coming up with would sell.
nikkas like Drake & Jay are called "cowards & bytches" because they go in the studio with the mindset of having to make back that money, not ONLY dropping ill shyt. That's what all rappers have struggles with. Balancing the art & the business. While some nikkas will sell out (Starships was a sell out song imo, I didn't even know that was Nicki Minaj at first) "Selling out" is just another "hating", a cop out when nikkas don't want to face the truth. The truth is nikkas want that money they paid you back, with interest. Ain't no illuminati or devil worshipping going on, and like Pac said, if there was why would they tell us????
