Hmm.. but what about black and brown solidarity?

But black folks need to be on the front lines confronting ICE!

But immigrants built America!

These ppl are not your friends. They don’t know black American history. They view black Americans as just as bad as the white man when they want to villainize you, but will then turn around and practice “Mejora La Raza” and keep away from you because you’re NOT white and that’s who they aspire to be. Ain’t it crazy? :jbhmm:

Don’t nobody be thinking about Purrto Rico like that.

If they had issues with being “colonized” they sure as fukk did nothing about it for decades to the WHITE government that “colonized” them.

Dragging black people into THEIR colonization

Puerto Rico was colonized by Spain following Christopher Columbus's arrival on November 19, 1493, during his second voyage. The first Spanish settlement, Caparra, was established in 1508 by Juan Ponce de León. The island remained under Spanish rule for over 400 years until it was ceded to the United States in 1898.

Who the fukk were FBA’s Colonizing in 1493?

Americans are fukking racist idiots..

I mean, she didn't say that.

She even made the distinction that she wasn't specifically talking about black americans, but americans in general/US government - and it just so happens that black americans create/are at the forefront of pop american culture, so yeah, any region that is "colonized" or under american imperialism will grow up with black american music, language, culture etc:dwillhuh:

However; most people with two working neurons know that by large, black americans aren't the ones dictating US foreign policy - even if you do have the odd black person in a seemingly position of power

“Stop acting like black Americans are a different type of gringos”

That’s that slick “I’m not saying you are the white man. But…you’re no different from the white man”

Latin America must be as friendly for Black people as Arabia..

Black people are too kind.
I dont condone kicking people when they are down, but these Latinos have been asking for it and Black folks not inflicting as much pain and harm as is humanly possible on them at this point is unforgiveable.

I took that to mean that though she wasn't specifically talking about black americans - black americans are still americans and can't wholesale be divorced from america when discussing american imperialism

I think these conversations are nuanced and shouldn't be had in bad faith

I Wasn’t enraged, I was literally asking questions that I would’ve asked to her face.

Like when did Puerto Rico get colonized? In the 1400’s… when the U.S. was colonized and Black people weren’t even Americans, just slaves?

Aight then bytch… hope that dead’s this argument in the future.

The initial post that she replied to said Bad Bunny has no idea of who these people are (regarding the Fugees). She replied saying that he does because they grew up under American colonialism/imperialism consuming American pop culture; language, music etc. Black americans by virtue of being highly creative and historically dictating what's "cool" culturally - are hypervisible in these realms/spaces

The content of the music/art - degeneracy, drill (sexxy redd, et al) or wholesome inspiring hip-hop (fugees, etc) is not relevant to the point she made
