Its a pretty meh free agency
Everybody is either worn down or just roleplayers. When you look at the SG position (cause I feel like Grant and Galloway are the future PG's of the team), it gets bleak.
Kent Bazemore might be the best 2 guard who isn't a RFA next year brehs
Phil might have to take a runner on OJ Mayo or PJ Hairston if he wants to preserve cap room for that last large cap payout into 100 Mil territory in 2017. After that the cap is gonna be mostly set and teams might blink on matching cause they know they will be stuck with no money to improve.
Now looking at the 2017 NBA FA it is straight
We talking Curry, Blake, Derozan, Lebron, Dwight, Westbrook, Teague as UFA
The Greek Freak, Mirotic, Noels, Schroeder, Gobert, as RFA.
Now even if they don't opt out D Will and Afflalo come off the books that year (calderon too) and regardless of that the knicks have bird rights to them by then as well. If the knicks have a core they could definitely add a piece (maybe 2) and make a legit run before Melo's current contract ends.
