I know Seattle and SF are planning to increase the minimum wage to 15 dollars but what happens to workers that make around 16 dollars an hour now or slightly more? Do they demand a wage increase proportional to the increase for the minimum or will those wages stay the same? Also to offset everything wouldn't prices increase proportionally as well...I am not sure how this works so any insight without trolling is appreciated.

Workers who make over $15 an hour can demand wage increases too, but the laws do not cover them obviously in mandating increases.

Prices may increase a bit here and there but an organized working class can force capitalists to accept slimmer profit margins without a decrease in employment and higher costs of living.

If I worked for a company and I was sitting at 16 or 17 an hour I would be heated if I was told that my wage was not going up and some high schooler working at burger king made as much as me for a far more valuable job...that is what confuses me on how this can work.

Most people working these jobs are not 16 or 17 years old... So that shouldn't even be a talking point to discredit the Fight for $15

Instead of hating on other low-wage people, why not support their success and use it to demand a wage hike as well?

I am happy that the minimum wage is finally trying to adjust to the cost of living like 30+ years ago...I can just see corporate greed causing everyone that is not forced to increase to 15 to have wages remain stagnant and automation minimize the amount of minimum wage jobs...is there anything in place to prevent that?

Some companies automatically adjust their wages to about a 50-70% movement of the wage. If I made over 15, I wouldn't worry to much. I was explaining to someone a few months ago that the ball would still be in the worker's court.

Let's say you have a highly stressful clerical job that pays 16/hr and the wages increased to 15 min. What's to keep you doing that job, when you can take a dollar hit and find something less taxing? :leon:

That's why companies usually always increase when minimum wages go up.

Never hate on what the next man make. Focus on yourself. That's the biggest problem with minimum wage going up. People are to busy hating on another person's success instead of focusing on the real problem. these greedy corporate vultures who prey on that vulnerability in people. They use every excuse in the book to hold people down because they just don't want people on their level.

Most businesses would adjust if they're run properly. So don't worry about these big ass greedy corporations who hoard all the money for themselves and the top executives in the company. They'll survive and aren't going anywhere.
