Disclaimer: I am not African American, or Afro-Latino. I'm Latino, but more on the lighter side.

Question: I've heard of the good surrounding Black Soaps for the longest time. I know that they are better than buying 3/$1 from the 99 cents store. I also know that some of them due to being natural leave some gunk and sludge in the shower.

What I'm looking for is a recommendation.

I have recently started taking hotter showers (NYC Winter, ya undsterstand?). they feel glorious, but the hot water is causing dry skin.I don't wanna stop taking hot showers, but I don't want dry skin.

I know Shea Moisture got the game on lock, but what else y'all recommend (specifically)? I ask here since I know a lot of y'all are AA or at least pretend to be, and this is more a part of your world than mine.

Much appreciated.

Gracias. www.HealthyMuslim.com is a good website for this type of stuff. I recommend you use olive oil for your skin, also coconut oil is wonderful for skin as well!

I'm not sure about shea moisture body washes or black soap.
Try using an in-shower body oil/lotion. Neutrogena makes the shower body oils and Nivea makes the shower body lotion.
After you finish cleansing your body, slather the oil/lotion all over your body, rinse good and pat dry. After showering, use a really really really THICK sealant like vaseline or baby oil gel. Boom. No more dry winter skin. Remember, your body is working overtime to stay warm so don't forget to drink water.

Thank You, I try to stay away from sealing my pores and using too many lotions, but I guess doing that would be better than having dry skin. I appreciate it.
