I recently got a SSN but had a credit card with Bank of America (where they had no SSN for my file) for an year. If I were to provide Bank of America with my SSN would they share past credit history with the credit bureaus?

Yes they will.....I assume you used a Tax IDto open the account ,so it may have been linked to your SSN already..the credit Bureaus collect data and buy information ..take a look at your credit report
You might just get away with that.I didn't use a TaxID and my address changes yearly
I'm an international student
Bank of America allows you to with a passport but you have to go to a bankI didnt think it was possible to open an account without ssn or tax ID...how did u do that?
Bank of America allows you to with a passport but you have to go to a bank
If you used the passport to get the SSN then they are linked already in the govt databases...its probably only a matter of time before the private ones catch up
could be a few months or years but it will happen
@TheRealfG Are they asking you to provide your ssn?
The moment you apply for credit with that new ssn and you use the same address as the one you got with the passport is when it will end up on your report. They might even do it off the strength of the same dob.no, I just got a SSN so I'm trying to build some credit.
Credit karma is the best free credit score checker.@Meta Reign man, you were right
I tried checking my score on Credit Karma and apparently the Bank of America history is on my credit report, even without the ssn.
According to credit karma my score in the low 700s from both reporting agencies. How accurate is credit karma tho?![]()
