people kill me when they say that cause i was raised in Jersey but i been runnin thru the south my whole life and one thing i know is that these nikkas down here can be the rudest most ignorant nikka walkin. At one time in my life I was part of a 6 man crew and i was the only up north nicca, the others were from Ga, 2 from Fl, 1 from NO, and 2 from Houston, NONE of these nikkas acted like they're momma gave them any kind of home training and thats really how its been wit most of the nikkas i've known from down south. I'm the only nicca i know that still calls a woman maam if i don't know her name or opens doors for females even if i don't know them. If that whole southern hospitality and manners thing is true then it was lost in this generation

most of them are from major cities but even my homie from a country ass town in Ga named Gordon is like that, i just thinks its all bullshyt, manners and hospitality may have been taught to the generations before but these nikkas now-days aint got a lick of tact or manners

people only say northerners are rough around the edges because we don't do things like speak to every stranger we walk pass, but most of the time cats saying that are them dudes that have never been north of the MD line, as a nicca raised north of it and very knowledgeable about the south of it I know it aint all smiles and sweet country folk like they try to pass off

I thought I was the only one that considered blowing your nose at the table is probably the rudest things you can do at the dinner table based on the frequent violators. :wtf:

I seriously wanna smack someone for doing this shyt. :snoop:

Yeah man. I don't understand what goes through a person's head when they decide to blow their nose right next to where a person is eating.

Blowing your nose thing is just disgusting, but I never heard leaving the table.

I leave the table b/c I need to dispose of that rag of nastiness and I know no one wants to hear me pushing out snot and all the noise that comes with it.

sir or mam my arse. i'll hold open doors for people and do small things like that but fukk a southern charm school. the south is backwards as hell with that shiz. i know because i've lived in both places

I see where you are coming from. I wouldn't say I came up on that charm school tip, but IMO sir and ma'm have a place (especially with children). For me it was used as a clear delineation for who was a peer and who wasn't. Subconsciously, it taught me to just respect people who were older than me.

It got a little strange when I stared working professionally and I don't say it to work colleagues. I do say it to older people though (50ish and up) and ESPECIALLY older black people. Don't feel right calling certain people by their first name.

Crazy thing is there are people that grow up down here who are wild boys out in public, but straighten up as soon they are around their family members. :lupe:

:heh: Hell no. They prolly laugh at me if I said that

I remember once I had to move with my moms for the military to Virginia. Her boss was a woman named Cathryn. At one point she goes 'oh you dont have to call me Ms. Cathryn, Cathryn is fine'. Mom wasn't around when she said it.

Later on I addressed the woman as Cathryn and moms was like
