1. Would the hate have been less?

2. Could he have walked the streets in Cleveland? Or what would the public say?

Once again just a convo I had with a Cavs fan just now.

The fans would have felt abandoned and upset regardless of the manner in which he left.

That final playoff series with Cleveland, it felt to a lot of people like he quit. And doing that ESPN "The Decision" was terrible. And that he conspired to sign with Miami made it worse...and made the Cavaliers management feel like suckers because he wasn't honest with them about the possibility of staying.

So yeah, he would have been hated anyway. But at least the fans would have gotten over it...kind of the way Magic fans got over losing Shaq. But Cleveland will probably never get over Lebron's departure.

The Cavs were good when he was there. It wasn't Lebron scoring 60 every night and a bunch of scrubs chipping in 3 points so I don't really buy the argument that he had no help.
I just felt like he ran into better teams in the playoffs and lost. It happens.

Jordan ran into the Pistons.
Magic and Larry ran into each other.

Eventually they found a way to overcome it.

Anyway, he got his rings in Miami. Good for him, I guess.

It wouldve been the same. Cleveland is a hateful..rotten..shytty town with worse fans. He could have brought 11 titles and they'd hate him for retiring before 12.

fukk you first off & the entire state of bytchigan

Secondly, his "team" basically told us he was coming back then the "decision" happened. You have to remember national media doesn't have the story more than the local beat writers in any sport.... So when he went on national television & said "I'm taking my talents to South Beach" that was the end. His same team is saying he'll be back after this year but that truly depends on how much we've developed (playoffs). That'll smooth things over for most of NE Ohio but he didn't think his own hometown would turn against him & Bron is an emotional person at the end of the day so all of this sticks w/ him in the back of his brain. Hence the I see the haters tour.

To answer the original question, no. Cleveland wouldn't have reacted the way they did because at the end of the day, we're over the luxury tax because we made you (Bron) the General Manager & gave you everything you wanted instead of sticking to the plan. It would've been hurt but not the debacle that will forever leave him hated even if he does come back in some fans eyes

Lebron could have done this and i still think it would have been bad. But i think its because he is from the area.

Jordan didn't "find a way" to overcome it, his team(mates) got better, and that's it. That never happened for LeBron. There is not one series in Cleveland that you can point to and say LeBron was the reason they lost. Those teams overachieved in the regular season each year, but once the playoffs start and other good/great teams were able to game plan against them (plus coaches better than Mike Brown) they just couldn't stack up.

Why yes, Lebron was the one that saw Larry Hughes as his ideal second scorer and gave him 70 mil. He turned down Amare to keep JJ Hickson at all costs. It wasn't the hopeless and inept Cavs front office, it was Lebron. Lol

Tell me the best player the Cavs drafted to team with Lebron.

I never seen a player have to score 30 plus be the damn near run the point rebound and cover the best player on the opposite team power forward to point make chase down blocks. That was crazy and people still said he did not do enough lol. I wanted him on the knicks but he wanted to do what he wanted to do matter of fact i wish the knicks kept Pat Riley and gave him what he wanted the knicks might have had some chips by now.

So you're saying their management deserves zero blame?
