In every neighborhood in the entire city? I never look at homes for sale in NYC cause they suck compared to the City's suburbs but I doubt a house on a side block in East New York is selling for millions.

You're paying someone else's mortgage when you rent an apartment. What's the difference?

I (well my parents) rent a house, you gotta pay for the heat separately during the winter where's the New Yorkers living in tenement buildings don't have to pay for heat, far as I know.
It doesn't annoy me that I rent a house, I'm just happy that I live in NYC while I still can.

Most apartment complexes are on a construction loan/mortgage and use the income they receive from their operations (i.e. rental income) to pay their mortgage. This is true whether its a company or an individual that mortgaged a commercial property.
So again, what is the difference between renting a house and renting an apartment when it comes to "paying someone's mortgage"?
