First off RIP to Louis Johnson one of the most influential bass guitar players of all time

The Brothers Johnson weren’t a studio band... and they were first discovered by Q when he heard them playing in Stevie Wonder’s studio while auditioning for his band. Stevie received a call from Q and told them Quincy wanted them to go to his studio next door, they played for him and the rest is history...

They wrote some of their stuff but most of their work was composed by either Q or Rod Temperton. Louis played bass on that Patti Austin cut you posted.
