As a solo artist and songwriter he is much higher than Donell Jones, lol. I can't believe you put him in the same sentence with the guys you listed.
Donell Jones first three albums are pretty solid the second of which Where a Wanna Be is a classic - I don't think NeYo has album as good as that personally. I can see why Donell may look out of place when compared to others I mentioned though but I do think he's a little underrated. I probably should have included Usher instead although he's not a prolific song writer, or producer. Despite this I still rate Usher far higher than NeYo.

Where I Wanna Be album>>> Ne-Yo’s existence INCLUDING the hits he’s written for others.

Look, I like Donnell Jones more as a solo artist than Ne-Yo but I am not going to take what I personally feel and ignore the success Ne-Yo has when compared to Donnell. Ne-Yo has more top 10 singles and has sold more albums and singles and that is just as a solo artist. Ne-Yo is a much bigger artist.

Good not great. Like everyone else said he hot the scene when RnB was on it's downturn so he was successful by default. Not his fault but it is what it is.

Not a big fan. Always thought his music was kinda corny :manny:
Well he's a corny dude. But to his credit he does have some good songs. Most have been posted. His best joint to me was the She got her own remix, he let Foxx outshine him on that one though.

1.)Where do you rank him among the best RnB artists if the 21st century and all time?

2.)Do you think he has a classic album or nah?

1. I consider Ne-Yo a Pop Artist.
He writes poppy songs for the masses. That is a talent that I won’t deny.
But I don’t consider him R&B…(*goes there*) It’s only R&B because he is Black. You give his songs to Justin Timberlake
and you would think they were from Max Martin. Again, that is not a diss. I put Ne-Yo in the same group with Akon, Jason DeRulo,
T-Pain, Sean Kingston…people like that.

1B. …like, if this was the 80s he woulda been a guy like Bobby Nunn: a great pen who should’ve stayed a pen and not been a face.
He should be Darryl Simmons, Johnta Austin, or Sean Garrett - just write the hits, sell em to whoever and get stanky rich. But L.A. and
Jiggermayne H. Holla were smart enough to exploit his need for spotlight and make him a legacy artist.

2. In My Own Words and Year Of The Gentleman are classics, even if I’m not crazy about them. The people have spoken.
