Sorry I just got to this but this is an ABSOLUTE LEGEND. He, Andre Harrell and Russell Simmons were all roomates together before they broke through in the industry. This was Mr. Magic's right hand man and Mr. Magic is the one who started the Juice Crew. Ty took most of those Juice Crew members and started Cold Chillin Records distributed through Prism records (an R&B and Disco label). He was every bit as much as a genius and success as his aforementioned roommates except he was low key and stayed out of the public eye. He was sort of like the Al Haymon of Hip Hop. I cant really put in to words his impact on hip hop but the emergence of Kool G Rap, Kane, Granddaddy I.U. (RIP), Craig G, and Masta Ace closed the talent gap quickly that separated Rakim from every other lyricist at the time and ushered in a new wave of lyricists such as Nas and AZ. This is the man that had Kool G. Rap airlifted to the hospital for emergency surgery for an aneurysm and he a huge part of the success of the legendary Marley Marl who along with Shan spawned a whole legion on MC's from the place known as Queensbridge.

Salute to this pioneer and TRULY unsung hero of our culture. Rest Well Mr. Tyrone "Fly Ty" Williams. Job well done!

RIP, he's getting a lot of love which is dope to see.

I cannot think of Cold Chillin without thinking of Gza dissing the fukk out of them, Protect ya Neck and What's my Name were pretty much my introductions to HipHop as a youngling so I was raised off the Wu being too slamming for them.

Must have not been all bad though, again seeing a lot of love so that's good to see.
