Kim Ki-Duk Dead Of Covid-19: South Korean Director Was 59 – Deadline
Goddammit brehs, this one hits me like a sledgehammer. Truly one of the most unique storytellers in cinema gone.
I don't think most folks here are familiar with his works even though he's a legend in his own right. He came up around the same time as Chan Wook-Park, Bong Joon-ho and Kim Jee-Woon but due to his smaller, intimate and often controversial films always remained more of a festival darling rather than reaching commercial success. The man was completely self-taught and operated almost entirely on his own whims. If you have not seen Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter… and Spring then you have not experienced cinema as it should be.
Luckily it's on Youtube in pretty good quality.
