If I recall correctly, when the 'Surviving R. Kelly' doc blew up his publishing was given back to him for free as a way to display how they did not want to associate or profit off him no more.

I just find it real hard to believe a label would give back an artist his masters (and a generational artist at that) for free, despite the shyt that's been going down. Record labels are the top guys that run them are just not that way inclined. They're money first motherfukkers
Me and my dudes were having this conversation on the weekend but that catalogue is just hit after hit after hit. One of the richest music catalogues in history and don't forget kelly produced probably around 80% of it too
