That shyt is like Children of the Corn when you leave that 87 corridor. And New York is long as fukk. I don't know about the cities (Rochester, Syracuse, Buffalo) but I do know that the Southern Tier around 17 and 84 is all white and has pockets of Hasidic Jews and Quakers. I think the racism is worse in northeast PA (all the country parts) than in New York.

Upstate NY is peculiar because while there are a lot of hicks in the area, it is also home to a lot Underground Railroad stops and both Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass made their homes there. :yeshrug:

The racism Upstate NY is more in your face as you go towards the suburbs and the sticks. NYC, the racism is covert except in the strong ethnic enclaves like Howard Beach.
From what it seems, its alot less easier for racists to segregate in NYC (unless they got million dollar condo in Manhattan type money) Blacks Ricans, Domicans, ect always in your immediate surroundings..so a real racist would have to bite his tongue more so than those upstate in all white areas :patrice:

I'm from Rochester but live in NYC so maybe I can share out. NYC is racist. Upstate NY is racist. The difference is approach. In NYC, they use "status" and "class" to marginalized you. Ask anyone who been on 59th st, 5th ave, Madison and so forth, they may let you "walk through" but in reality, they really giving you the side eye.

Rochester on the other hand is small (220,000) but it obviously segregated. The east side is all Latina and blakcs while the west side is black with pockets of whites in their own neighborhood ( south wedge). Everybody stay in their lane since the majority of the city of black. Once you leave those city limits it open seasons. Go up to Greece and see those ginnies try to take your head off for being in their neighborhood. You might be in churchville and see a random confederate flag and all that. Don't get it twisted, you will see the same in NYC too. Just won't be as frequent due to concentration and borough identity. I live in Harlem and seen a truck with a confederate flag, trump set and all that shyt like :hhh:

I'm from NYC, I go to college in Buffalo. In Western New York I've seen trucks with the confederate flag flying more than once (I've never seen that shyt in the city ever), I've seen lawns with a bunch of Trump endorsements, they hung a black doll on an elevator at Canisius College, there's stories of hate crimes and bullying in schools, I've seen housing listings around campus that dead ass say "no black people". Buffalo is crazy segregated and if you've read a Dr. X thread you know there isn't much hope there. The poor areas are composed of black, Puerto Ricans, Africans, Arab refugees, and poor whites. In the surrounding Buffalo area you have areas like Orchard Park which is all rich whites and then you have areas like Lockport which are more "white trash" areas. The poorest hoods in Buffalo look a lot worse than the concrete jungle that is NYC.

Western New York is literally one of the most racist parts of the country...
Study says Western New York is one of the most racist places in the country

In NYC its not really as in your face. It's also segregated like every city with all the poor minorities living in certain enclaves. The blatant racism doesn't hit you in the face but rather the systemic racism that lead to your living conditions. Also, you have things like stop and frisk, if you're on Madison Avenue in a luxury store you might get the side eye treatment, certain neighborhoods are experiencing gentrification which is happening pretty much in every city but not enough to complete shift the demographics. In NYC I never worried about whites because I was literally never around them, I didn't have class with a white person until college, you can walk miles in this city and see minimal white faces in certain parts.

:jbhmm: Ive been in, Syracuse, Buffalo and a few small towns too...like, Morrisville, Mohawk Valley and Woodstock and a few others that I'm sure I'm forgetting.

I know it goes against what people want to hear on here...but I honestly don't remember anything bad about those places in particular or anything really racist.

What I did notice is that in places like Buffalo and Syracuse, is that the black neighborhoods were significantly poorer looking and very hood.

Yea, everyone's gonna have different experiences but I've never dealt with anything really "in your face" like people always say happens here. Like it's been said you'll probably see
something in the tiny towns but I haven't seen a whole lot on the bigger cities, and I've spent plenty of time in a lot them. More systematic racism than anything. I've dealt with fakkit racist cops more than anything but what city doesn't have those? We know NYC does

I went to Syracuse. The hoods there made East New York look like Park Avenue. It is also one of the poorest cities in the country. Don't get caught in Thornden Park or South Salina when the sun goes down.
