I’m about to give it up too. My teenage brother brought home some friends, all black expect one Pakistani. He greeted me with “What’s good Nikka?” And he thought nothing of it, til I pulled him aside and told him to chill, calling a grown black man he doesn’t know a nikka.
But the kid was puzzled cuz other black people let him call them nikka all the time. Frankly, I can’t blame the kid. How do I expect a pubescent kid to understand such a loaded word, which has been watered down and misused in the name of “reclamation”? I’m giving it up too. It’s not working out and it hasn’t been working and it won’t work out
