Anjem Choudary, one of the most controversial radical clerics in the UK, has been convicted of inviting others to support the so-called Islamic State group, it can now be reported.

Choudary, 49, encouraged support for the militant group in a series of talks posted on social networking site YouTube, the Old Bailey heard.

He faces up to 10 years in jail.

The verdict was delivered on 28 July, but for legal reasons can only now be reported for the first time.

Choudary was convicted alongside his close confidante, Mohammed Mizanur Rahman.

The trial heard how the men decided in the summer of 2014 that the group then known as Isis [Islamic State in Iraq and al-Sham/the Levant] had formed a "Khilafah", or Islamic State, that demanded the obedience and support of Muslims.

They then invited others to support IS through speeches and announced their own oath of allegiance to its leader.

Counter-terrorism chiefs have spent almost 20 years trying to bring Choudary to trial, blaming him, and the proscribed organisations which he helped to run, for radicalising young men and women.

He used to say way more inflammatory things in the past yet nothing happened to him. NOW they want to prosecute him.

The Muslim community in the UK long suspected him of being an Mi5 agent. It's like he had immunity. :mindblown:. I suppose he served the purpose of right wing media who would trot him out to make Muslims look crazy. They would invite him on TV whenever something went down.

Dude would hold 9/11 appreciation gatherings in Sept and nothing happened to him. Yet those attending would get jammed up :sas2:

Nothing

Not caping for Islam but let's be fair here, Christianity was the cause for alot of bloodshed and if you've ever read the Talmud you'd know that Judaism isn't a shinning star either (no pun intended). All religion has been used in some form or another to oppress and control or be excuses for atrocities and violence.

to be honest we have to take a look at the changes in not only political environments globally but also the social environment.
added to the fact that Syria and other middle eastern countries have been the source of alot of emigrants as well as political/war refugee's, I can't say without a doubt right now but it's possible they want to clear up all influential supporters of IS to not allow them to remain organized. they know they can't stop radicalization, so the next best thing to do is scatter it and then strike individual targets. (I could be wrong).

But nah, shyt changing now. they (The European nations) aren't tolerating blatant shyt no more, they can't afford to. their citizens are being fed up, it's actually issues going on present day France that doesn't make the news. shyt is bubbling over in the European nations that the refugees emigrated to. (to be fair, the issues come from problems created by both sides. no one side is at blame or fault, it's just a entirely fukked up situation and no one is willing to compromise)
