Surprised they didn't get more heat from the mob with all the references and names they were mentioning.

I bet some of the mafia kids who listened to Wu at the time put in a good word for them. :mjlol:

Too bad Vlad sucks at interviews.I'd like to know how often they were approached by real gambinos or cats with real mob ties.

I’ve actually read this somewhere. Might have been an old Source article but yea some of those Mafia family kids were telling their parents that Nas, Wu, Jay, etc were cool and it was a good thing for them to reference them

and yet you praise Jay z and Reasonable doubt

the irony :russ:
The only mob reference I remember on RD is on D’evils which is Jay criticizing “d’evils” like choosing to idolize Gotti instead of rap skills.

Mafioso rap was not necessarily on the backdrop of Italians but also on AA organized crime like the Frank Lucas era, then you had Colombian cartels and black gangsters from the 80s. Even going back to the Jews like Lansky and Schultz. Bad Boy were however big on that Italian thing.

The album was a product of his real life. Unlike many of of his peers from that period.

Some of it and some of that shyt was influence by others influences
yes and he came up in a time when that shyt was relevant to his era

therefore the point stands

Italians were relevant to anxieties, dealing with pressure, environment descriptions, motivation to do more than push drugs, financial goals, friendships, how exactly?

He was inspired by criminals putting on, Gotti, Lansky, Frank Lucas, Escobar, Domencio and on. Yes. Also by Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, Cosby, Snoop Dogg. Movies like Godfather and Scarface. It’s just the media chose to label it mafioso rap, giving people the idea that it was strictly Italian. Could’ve named it Cartel rap, and you’d say they were only inspired by The Latin plugs, traffickers and cartel bosses

Your opinion is your opinion, I don’t understand it and you are unwilling to explain it - so let’s just end this back and forth.
