Rakim has alluded to this for a minute....I remember him saying Dre wanted him to go hard and he just wasn't with it

Probably wanted him to do a bunch of features with 50 and G-Unit about shooting shyt up because that's what was popular at the time

He still made some gangster shyt on the 7th Seal though, and all of the best tracks on that album were produced by people Aftermath had worked with. Nottz, Needlz, Jake One and Ty Fyffe.

It wouldn't be a stretch to see this sort of content on an Aftermath album. I don't really see what part of his art would have been compromised when this was the final output anyway.

Rakim should of followed Dres direction, imagine an album full of these :wow:

He was there before 50 and had some of the same beats that were used after.

Let us be honest about the situation. Rakim failed himself. He could have done anything like the song with Truth hurts for a whole album.

This dude known for his big ego and abrasive personality, he don't gel well with others. He definitely took on the GOD complex.

Industry talk.

He has a rep for being difficult.

I seen him live twice and both times he had diva tendencies as well. He threatened to not perform over a bad sound system at a rock the bells show but every other act powered thru. And another time was just bytching about some shyt.

Tech9ine said he cause friction at a show with him aswell. He was in Techs territory and fanbase but wanted to headline the show because he felt he was a bigger act. But that's not true even on paper... tech outsells dude and those were his fans that night.

On one of these podcasts someone talked about him being around Nas early and treating him with a level of disregard. He could have embraced and mentored dude but he wasn't about that shyt. Then the infamous flip flop on him being mad about the Nas biography song on him. He at first have it props while they were together then switched up and said the song was disrespectful. There's video him saying he like it next to Nas and video of him hating after the fact.
