These were the main eventers of that time. I can add if you're quick enough. This is favorite / most entertaining during that time period.
  • Foley
  • HBK
  • Austin
  • Bret
  • Savage
  • Sid
  • DDP
  • Sting
  • Nash
  • Hall
  • Hogan
  • Rvd
  • Taker
  • Luger
  • Taz
This is barely legal =>living dangerously 98
Wrestlemania 13 => 14
Uncensored 97 => 98

Ranking overall. Sting is too hard to rate imo.

Michaels should be included

Austin
Nash
Hall
Taker
Bret
Savage
Luger
DDP
Hogan
Sid
Foley (didn't come off as a legit main eventer to me at the time)

I didn't watch ECW at the time and haven't gone back to it

Errwhere
Austin - Clear cut for me, the pops and aura he had was fukking insane.

Nash/Hall - The Outsiders were routinely the best thing about the WCW main event and were the reason Hogan, Luger and Savage were still hot (Which says a fukk-ton)
Sting - He and DDP were gret faces for the NWO feud and I think their characters became a reflection of just how deep the WCW creative was pre '99
DDP

Taker - Along with Bret, they helped to make 3:16
Bret - Bret's transition to WCW and subsequent title runs was fantastic. I don't think he was as effective as he was in the E at first but he settled in nice with the US Title.

Taz - Dope ass run in ECW, on a related note - I think Raven was mere raindrops from making the main event explode in WCW.
Michaels
Savage

RVD
Luger
Sid
Foley - I think foley is worthy of this list, he was pretty great going into 99, but I think he's closer to HHH and the Rock than Taker.

  • 1. Austin
  • 2. (tie) HBK/Bret (best WM match ever + The Hart Foundation angle more than makes up for his WCW run)
  • 3. Savage
  • 4. Hogan
  • 5. Nash

#6 - 11

Any combo of Savage/Taker/DDP/Hall/Sting/Luger after that works for me, they all have an argument to those spots

12. Taz
13. RVD
14. Sid
