You think Ran is an average rapper? Damn........

His pen game is okay to me breh but he just comes off to me as a smack/battle rapper trying to make music...:yeshrug:

I didn't mind them projects he had with movie titles with Craven but his style makes me never really go back to revisiting his music.

Definitely a couple of beats on here that have a bit of an old Premo spark to them. Nothing crazy but a bit more impressive than the Marci batch.

Makes me think the Nas project might have a chance. Only thing that concerns me is how long the Nas album will be. Neither this or the Marci album hit 20 minutes.
Neither this nor the Roc projects were marketed as albums though. Both were said ahead of time to just be EPs and Nas has never dropped an EP before as far as I know, while Roc and Ran both have. I think the Nas will be a full album

nikkas really think ran is an average MC? I mean he aint the best song writer,he ain't gonna give you a dope hook or bridge but he can spit. Word play, metaphors, multi syllables with some wisdom throwing in:yeshrug:

Maybe is the delivery that throwing nikkas off, that's probably it because he does shyt other nikkas we claim are elite just as well if not better:yeshrug:

Dope project btw lol only one beat I didnt enjoy honesty, gives me hope for the nas project

I think the Nas project's gonna be fire. I think these last 2 Preemo projects have had good beats. I don't understand all the consternation

C'mon now fam, the beats are average to mediocre. They are your typical cookie-cutter Primo beats. Just some chops with some scratches thrown on as the hook but mad underwhelming. No melody or head nodding. But, the thing is, they pale in comparison to his older shyt. This is why I didn't like "Define my Name" when it came out.

For a guy like Primo who has stuff under his belt like "Nas is Like" "2nd Childhood. "I Gave You Power" and Memory Lane not to mention his Gang Starr classic stuff like Code of the Streets, Royalty, Dwyck, and You Know my Steez all of these projects he's done lately pale in comparison.

Hit-Boy's shyt with Nas was so much better than these last 2 Primo projects he put out with Marci and Ransom.

great EP and it lets you know Preme is locked in. First time i heard of Ran was when he had beef with Joe budden and i'm a big Joey fan, so i can understand why Joe stands out more than Ransom even though Ransom has all the technicalities correct. As an MC you just gotta be loose with the flow and take mfs on a journey instead of trying to come correct with the multies and have everything down to perfection, makes you sound robotic. Regardless i do appreciate Ransom as a rapper cuz some of us do appreciate that style of rhyming. With that being said he should've saved the "Reinvention" beat and "Amazing Grace" for Nas, that was def built for the GOD. "Reinvention" and "Survivors Remorse" def has be on a chokehold, great songs! I can only imagine what Preme got for Nas and we def will see the nitpicking times 10 on the board :heh:

ran's delivery wore on me back in the day. dude used to stretch to the ends of the earth in order make those "slim shady LP" rhyme patterns work. used to toss out a lot of throwaway bars as a result; say something corny to extend the pattern and get to the haymaker while still using the same pattern as part of the payoff. battle rap shyt.

that said. he's gotten so much better. he still has a delivery built on playing with patterns. but he actually hops in and out of pockets now. and he's also elevated when it comes to what he's talking about.

he'll never be for everyone. but he's far from average at this point.

J. Cole does this too, something I noticed listening to him that I kinda dislike.

Truth.

That's why I always said Cole doesn't have any soul in his music. Dude raps like he's practiced every verse he's ever said 483 times in the mirror before recording. Far from a natural.

I swear it's does lol. It just makes it sound like cats are doing the most to convince listeners that their bars are harder than they really are
