I don't have many examples to give cause the only time I hear it sped up is at a Jamaican party, or when im listening to an internet radio station from Jamaica.

But when its played at its normal speed it sounds very depressing and draw out..

Here' s a recording from a dancehall party.... it's just sounds more hyped up to me... Listen to the first 5 minutes..

Thoughts..

funny, I always preferred it slowed down.

:whoa: but I don't mean in the trollish answer Choopped-And-Screwed sense.

I mean- I remember a while back I slowed down the tempo of E. 1999 Eternal without changing the pitch to an almost slow jam tempo with Windows Media Player and burned it on CD ( I was really trying to make the vocals more understandable to the casual listener). Dudes thought I was listening to an entirely new album.

From there I wound up slowing down a lot of shyt by changing the frequency to 432hz.

Amazingly, I haven't dabbled in that shyt for years and only thought about it cause of this thread. I'm pretty sure the greater majority of my older music collection is slightly slowed down and I've been listening to it without thinking about it.

sort of kind of related:

has anyone who's reading this thread ever wondered why live music is almost always played faster than recorded?
it's just kinda natural. Your natural inkling when playing something live is to speed up – you always feel like you're chasing... playing fast is better than playing too slow.

When I'm at home I like it at the normal bpm.

I don't play any instruments, so I wouldn't know (I need to learn).

I just always found it weird and annoying and wondered if there was some reasoning behind it.
