:ohhh:

http://www.bhorowitz.com/from_rap_genius_to_genius

Based on these two pillars, today Rap Genius officially expands beyond rap and renames itself Genius. Genius does for everything what Rap Genius did for rap. As part of that, the company is also announcing a new $40M round of funding lead by Dan Gilbert. Rap Genius will continue, forever, as part of the Genius family. I have looked forward to this day for quite some time and welcome everyone to Genius, the explanation of everything.

smh @ nobody thinking of this idea before these corny ass dudes. I respect their vision but jeez, these dudes are fukkboys...

i don't know much about them but given this announcement i want to look into it. plenty of people probably wanted to do something like this but they didn't capitalize. that's how it goes, more often than not it seems when it comes to hiphop.

I think there is an element of luck to it... think of a site like whosampled.com , I could make a project like that but it would just sit around instead of getting venture capital.. meanwhile RapGenius really took off... so there's a mix of various factors

If you are a fan of Hip Hop to it's core then you will eventually understand it's language without the use of a wikipedia style lyrics site. I know Hip Hop/Black/Hood Slang isn't for everyone but the lingo is apart of the culture. This is why I've never been a fan of the site. Of course they are expanding. You dudes thought they were in it for the love of Hip Hop? Ha.

yea these kids are cultures vultures all the way. if i need lyrics i still check ohhla

very rarely if ever did i check them for lyrics.

mind you those 3 kids are corny, spoiled rich camron stans :snoop:

thats why they made the site to begin with which apparently doesnt even do its job

shyt is filled with wrong edits, wrong terminology, obviously ignored terms because of ignorance and last but not least it compiles lyrics but leaves incorrect or trolling entries

also lets not forget that google scam that they ran and got them banned from google last year

Nas still got a stake in this?

lol
