RAPPER AKON'S RACING TEAM MAKES ITS DEBUT

Akon is a five-time Grammy nominated rapper and producer who's sold more than 12 million albums worldwide.

Now, he's also a NASCAR team owner.

Akon Motor Sports will make its debut today when Joe Henderson III buckles up for the NASCAR Pro Series East race at Langley Speedway.

"€œI got into motorsports because I've always had a love for cars," Akon said in a statement. "Cars were always something that gave me that excitement and that rush for life. That was what really motivated me to get into motorsports."

As for Henderson, Akon calls him "€œthe best driver you have ever seen in your life."

Great move by Akon, dude is every bit of a businessman as much as Hov and Curtis are yet I swear you barely hear about his moves and he seems more business minded than anyone in hip hop. I thought the real money was in sponsoring a racer or race team of drivers, seems like if you are not a General Motors or Ferrarri this could be costly though Akon is working with a nice war chest.
