PORTLAND, Ore. — Ice Cube's tour bus caught fire in downtown Portland while the rap icon was in town for his "Truth to Power" tour, his team confirmed to KGW, prompting a response from Portland Fire & Rescue.
The incident occurred when Portland Fire & Rescue crews responded to a tour bus with the front passenger tire aflame, PF&R confirmed to KGW. Crews gained access to the interior and ventilated all smoke inside the bus.
Ice Cube was scheduled to perform at the Moda Center on Sept. 22 as part of his "Truth to Power" tour in Portland.
Ice Cube's comments suggest he believes the fire was intentional.
"I'm not taking this incident as a personal attack. A coward like that would burn anybody's property that was out there at the time," Ice Cube told KGW in a statement.
The incident is currently under investigation, and PF&R initially was unsure if the bus was associated with the Ice Cube tour. The investigations team is working through the neighborhood to acquire any security camera footage that may help them discover information that can help close the case, according to PF&R.
An investigator is assigned to the incident, and the investigation is open and ongoing.
