“Culture” was the lord’s blessing black people failed to monopolize. It was black’s people one hope for equal footing. Black people should have owned the music business and the various genres they’ve created top to bottom. There should’ve been a serious tax for outsiders. It’s the one thing none of them could lead or lay claim to.

It never happened and here we are

We did own our own culture. BET, Motown, Essence, Jet, Stax records (co-owned by Al Bell who reversed the game on them) etc. but them people came for them all. The trick is holding on to what we own and not falling for the banana in the tail pipe.

What you’re describing is a fraction of what the landscape was however. That’s like saying Jews owned Hollywood when really they had a studio and a couple of management companies

I agree I been saying this for years now especially with RNB music. When we own that shyt with Motown and Philly Motown etc.. we had some of the greatest music ever. You can argue with Def Jam and Russell.

The music now is tied to degrade and doesn't represent us as people. It's time.
