While I'd certainly like to see black people owning more, I really take issue with the idea that black culture revolves around rap.

We did own our own culture. BET, Motown, Essence, Jet, Stax records (co-owned by Al Bell who reversed the game on them) etc. but them people came for them all. The trick is holding on to what we own and not falling for the banana in the tail pipe.

stop selling out then

a young black kid is out here talking about nutting in throats to the most demonic beats was sold to the adjacents by his parents

stop selling everything. have nikkas not learned after 400 years?
Exploitation ain't that easy to recognize on the losing end.
Especially when street shyt ain't able to see the bigger picture when them people handing out seven figure checks to proliferate degeneracy among their own. They was looking at it as a way out, hip-hop and social media have reached the time when the survivors of all eras can look back together and talk to the youth about how the culture was exploited. That's why you seeing so many other people who weren't there at the start talking about how they "contributed", they trying to run interference because they know what's around the corner that's why they always talk about hip-hop in context of the 1960s and 1970s (CRM). Social media eliminating intergenerational beef in the ethnic group. I don't know about you but I haven't been hearing much about "old nikkas" from young rappers lately. All the gender war shyt gone be light work once the grandparents start making amends to their children and grandchildren.
You gone see more independent black-owned labels popping up before Atlantic see a true competitor. Consciousness got taken out of the music, now the people can seriously listen to the message. There are still going to be sellouts, fewer will be "our" sellouts due to demographic changes.

What you’re describing is a fraction of what the landscape was however. That’s like saying Jews owned Hollywood when really they had a studio and a couple of management companies

:mjlol:Exactly
i'm sorry but if politicians can be bought and sold, what hope do fukking rappers have?

everyone has a price. unless and until artistic integrity matters more than money, nothing will change by talking

You also can’t ‘own’ a culture, especially nowadays

As right as he is its too late...:francis: if anything all the real rappers that would do this would have to start from scratch like it was back in the day. Every fukking label got a jewish figurehead behind the scenes somewhere putting money into these projects :francis:
