Not to sound like a TSC head, but you know what I mean. Rappers you thought would make it, but never blew up.

J-kwon - Hot single with tipsy, interesting story, had decent buzz, nikka literally vanished off the face of the earth after hood hop dropped.

Murphy Lee- Murphy Lee man is the epitome of this. He had crazy hype,af1's, get your eagle on and what the hook gon be were massive. He should have sold at least a mill off those alone. There's no reason why this dude should be a 1 hit wonder.

I felt like he could have been bigger than even Nelly. He could spit, decent flow and had that radio friendly sound. It's a shame we never got to see murphy lee evolve as an artist, he will forever be known as Nelly's right hand man.

Charles Hamilton. Dude went crazy and completely self-destructed himself. The nail in the coffin was him getting his lights knocked out on CAMERA by his girl and having the entire city if Detroit ready to murk him on site because of that Dilla shyt. Extremely talented dude who couldn't keep himself together

Coming out a city where every wack nikka was poppin, he deserved bigger success...Last major thing I remember was that record he did wit Timbo that flopped.

It's ironic that you said that because I remember there was a time when he actually went missing

Anyway, the artist I'd say is Rich Boy. He had a dope ass album and some strong singles, but for some reason didn't follow up.

A lake near Tampa FL
Joe Budden and Charles Hamilton.

Pump it up was huge when it first came out. Heard Jay kinda threw him the bushes when he was the president of Def Jam :shaq2:

Charles Hamilton... :damn:

I don't think that girl punching him affected his career, Ross got exposed as a CO... no effect.... Joe Budden situation getting punched or w/e.... no effect.. Drake.... :comeon:

That mental illness and everything else contributed to destroying dude career IMO.

If that girl punching him was the only major L he took publicly he could have easily bounced back from that.

It wasn't just the chick punching him, that was just the culmination. He had been steadily going off the deep end before that with random weird ass rants, having ridiculous beefs with Souljah Boy and Rhymefest :heh: accusations of beat jacking, and generally coming off as a wacko. His music began to become a little too over saturated as I remember there was a period where he was releasing a new Mixtape DAILY. His shtick was staffing to get a little tired and THEN he got socked by his girl and went around claiming to have seances with a dead Dilla:wtb: Getting dropped from Interscope was the final nail in the coffin...

Joe Budden I'd say for what it's worth has had a pretty decent career. He's not THAT dude that he was hyped to be on Def Jam but honestly, if he was still on a major would we have gotten the REAL Budden? That Mood Music Budden? I actually believe Budden's career has been helped more than hindered by not being a Major label artist. He gets to release the music HE wants to make, he's part of a well respected group of lyricists, he tours, and he fukks fly women:manny: I think many a major label artist would LOVE to be in Budden's situation...
