In an image driven industry I'm very curious about how they're going to market her. She ain't gonna stiffen too many dikks. :francis:

I actually think she's very pretty. But hopefully she's marketed based off her TALENT because she'll never be a "sex symbol" and if they even attempt to go that route with her it will fail miserably

Looking at what they've done with Cole, sure it's a great signing. However I don't think there's anywhere she could have gone that would have worked. The state of black women in music right now is pretty bleak (unless you're a pre-established act like Rihanna and Beyonce). How many prominent black female artist have debuted in the last 5 years other than Nicki Minaj? There's been a couple that have had one off single success but even that number isn't as high as it should be when you compare it to the number of male one hit wonders there have been.
Dej Loaf for one.
Azealia Banks could have very easily reached new heights for her popularity if she didn't shoot her career in the head based on her own stupidity.
Noname Gypsy and Tink are building a solid fanbase and both have popular connections.
Angel Haze had she used her growing popularity as a stepping stone instead of being a disappointment.
Justine Skye?

Def loaf is who I was referring to when I said "one off single success". Your list is a very short one and if we're being honest none of them are doing anything at a really significant level. Have any of those names even released an album? This is coming from a Tink fan btw, I'm not blaming the artist but the consumer.

Compare that to the early 2000's when we had Eve, Missy Elliott (women didn't have to be sex symbols), Aaliyah, Amerie, Tweet, Truth Hurts, Ashanti, India Arie, Macy Gray, Trina.

Something's off.

I'm really happy for her. I've been a fan since she was on the interludes on Dream Merchant 2 and I've followed her, Jamla and Kooley High since '09. Hopefully Roc Nation lets her do what she's good at but just give her that marketing push.
