"Your race"

"Your people"

"black people like him"

She was young, but this letter says quite a bit about her allegiances.

I don't care who biracials want to associate with...or a better way to say it would be that I don't think there is really much to argue with who they associate with...if they associate and identify as black than I accept them. If they do not...well...to me they are just another non-black and in many areas of life that makes them a distant ally at best and a fierce enemy at worst. Her letter bothers me because she clearly doesn't identify as black....so I don't think she is entitled to speak on our culture and make the kinds of statements that she did. The same way I shyt on cacs when they get on that condescending "you should be a credit to your race" type of shyt.

That's really the *only* area where these biracials bother me....when they don't want to associate with or as black, but think that their ancestry still grants them some sort of voice within our culture. Naw.

Kidada is married to a brutha and has always been down....:obama:

:stopitslime: That's what kidada said and much like most biracials her identity came about after being rejected by white people. It wasn't out of some deep bond with her black roots. That's not love, that's being cornered and for biracials it becomes an easy choice. Be the bottom of a privileged group or the top of a marginalized one. Do the math. Be an outsider in standards of beauty of be at the top of the list? SHe is as white as she is black. Only reason this is a discussion because black americans somehow believe blackness erases other heritages. Rashida didn't play your "game" built off of lies and to sooth fragile egos in african americans. So she's "whitewashed"? :pachaha: Well yeh she is half white.

She never said she was rejected, she said that's how others identified her.

:skip: Negroes get so salty when biracial people acknowledge their entire heritage and let's be real, black dudes are only salty because some of those females don't fukk with them. It definitely ain't because they aren't more urban. It's because they ain't fukking with YOU.

So you do have some reason within you :ohhh: :lupe:

Amazing :wow:

She never said she was rejected, she said that's how others identified her.

When I was 11, a white girlfriend and I were going to meet up with these boys she knew. I’d told her, because I wanted to be accepted, “Tell them I’m tan.” When we met them, the one she was setting me up with said, “You didn’t tell me she was black.” That’s When I started defining myself as black, period. Why fight it?

You really going to argue semantics? Prior to being told she was black by a white person she wanted to "be accepted as a white girl with a tan"..It's really that simple for biracial people. Their bond with their blackness is after the rejection they feel from whiteness. And blacks make it an even easier choice by lauding mixed race individuals as the prettiest and brightest of the race. Tell me why Ethiopia,Eritrea, Brazil, Dominicans, Egyptians are more talked about than Mali, Ghana, Nigeria, Haiti, other caribbean countries amongst blacks in America? :stopitslime: Do I have to spell it out for you man?
