Alright, let me get this straight; some of y’all are actually out here rawdogging the web? :what:
browsing with nothing but a bare web browser? No addons, no extensions, just… default everything?! How do you even function?:why:
I honestly can’t wrap my head around navigating the internet without at least a handful of trusty tools. :whew:

if you do have them what addons and extensions are your absolute must-haves? What’s the bare minimum you refuse to browse without? share your setup and maybe someone will finally convince the addon-averse to join the 21st century.

one of my firefox configurations:

Couldn't be me :russ:

I have... a few - these are my currently enabled ones, the vital in green. Notes in italics my own
  • Better Microsoft Container – Isolates Microsoft-related sites (e.g. Outlook, Office, OneDrive) in a dedicated container to block cross-site tracking
  • Bitwarden Password Manager – Offers a secure, end‑to‑end encrypted vault in Firefox for generating, storing, autofilling, and syncing passwords across devices
  • Buster: Captcha Solver for Humans – Uses speech recognition to solve reCAPTCHA audio challenges with one click to bypass difficult CAPTCHAs
  • Bypass Paywalls Clean – Removes paywall restrictions on supported sites using techniques like cookie/user-agent manipulation and JS removal
  • CanvasBlocker – Prevents HTML canvas fingerprinting by blocking or spoofing the canvas API to enhance privacy
  • Chameleon – Spoofs your browser profile (user‑agent, resolution, etc.) to resist fingerprinting, a port of Random Agent Spoofer. I use this mainly as a replacement for Privacy Possum but also use it to replace the user-agent for certain pages, such as when a page doesn't work properly with a Firefox UA, I'll try Chrome.
  • Containerise – Automatically opens specified domains in user‑defined containers based on rules (simpler version of Multi-Account Containers)
  • Cookie AutoDelete – Deletes unused cookies when tabs close while allowing trusted ones to persist, helping reduce tracking. Just started using this again. The built in cookie management left way too many stray ones, this allows finer control.
  • Cookie Quick Manager – Offers a popup interface to view, search, and manage cookies quickly.
  • Dark Mode – Applies a dark theme to webpages for easier nighttime or low-light reading.
  • Download Cleaner LiteClears the download list on restart. A minor annoyance.
  • Facebook Container – Isolates Facebook activity in its own container to prevent tracking across other websites.
  • FoxReplace – Enables automatic find‑and‑replace actions on webpages based on customisable rules. I literally only use this on this site to replace the word melanin-deficient with something else lol
  • Gesturefy – Allows navigation using customisable mouse gestures across open tabs and windows.
  • Imagus mod – Enhances hover previews of images, videos, and other elements without needing to open new tabs.
  • KarakeepSave links forever!
  • LibRedirect – Redirects requests from websites (e.g., YouTube, Twitter) to alternative front-ends or proxies.
  • LocalCDN – Serves commonly used CDNs locally from memory to improve privacy and performance. I had been using JSLibcache until last weekend but the dev recommended to go back to LocalCDN.
  • Movable window-minimize-button – Adds a minimise button to popup windows so they can be minimized to the taskbar. Just so I can hide the standard min/max/close buttons to prevent accident closure.
  • Move unloaded tabs for Tree Style Tab – Automatically repositions unloaded tabs within the Tree Style Tab sidebar.
  • Old Reddit Redirect – Redirects Reddit links to the old.reddit.com interface by default. This could largely be replaced by LibRedirect or Redirector but it just seems to work better than alternatives.
  • Popup View for Google™ Translate – Enables translation in a popup window when using Google Translate on selected text.

  • Read Aloud: A Text to Speech Voice Reader – Reads webpage text aloud using TTS with multiple voice and language options. I use this to read things out sometimes just so I don't need to use my eyes lol. Currently have things read out by a cheeky Scottish lass 🤭
  • Refined GitHub – Improves GitHub UI by adding useful enhancements and shortcuts for developers.
  • Roomy Bookmarks Toolbar redux – Makes the bookmarks toolbar more compact and space-efficient. This is a legacy extension that has been kept alive.
  • Simple Temporary Containers – Opens each tab in a new temporary container that lasts only for that session.
  • simple-modify-headers – Allows users to add, modify, or remove HTTP request headers to control browsing behavior. Only required for Imagus mod tbh.
  • Stylus – Lets users install and manage custom styles (CSS) to change the appearance of websites.
  • Swift Selection Search – Enables quick searching of selected text via context menu or a popup search bar.
  • Tab Counter Plus – Displays the total number of open tabs, optionally grouped by window.
  • Tree Style Tab – Displays tabs in a vertical tree structure for better tab organization.
  • TST Lock – Adds a locking feature to Tree Style Tab to prevent accidental closing or reordering.
  • Turn Off YouTube Comments & Live Chat – Hides comments and live chat on YouTube pages for distraction-free viewing.
  • TWP – Translate Web Pages – Adds in-page translation tools to translate full webpages within Firefox.
  • uBlock Origin – Blocks ads, trackers, malware, and other unwanted content with efficient resource usage.
  • Undo Closed Tabs Menu – Provides a menu to quickly reopen recently closed tabs and windows.
  • Unpaywall – Detects free, legal PDF versions of academic articles and adds a download button on publisher sites.
  • UnTrap for YouTube – Removes distractions like autoplay, end screens, and recommendations from YouTube. Actually has a lot of features.
  • Violentmonkey – Gives users a platform to install and manage userscripts for site customisation.
  • Volume Control for Bandcamp Player – Adds an independent volume slider to Bandcamp embedded players.

Crazy how this thread was made, I was just in the chrome extension store on PC the other day :mjlol:

They have video games and such on there now :dwillhuh:

But I saw that they have extensions for dealing with tabs, as a tab hoarder that had me like :leon:

Message board posters are computer geeks for real for real, but the average person? They are definitely raw dogging it :pachaha:

i think theres a browser setting to disable popups.

I use The Stream Detector to capture the streaming link and have it pre-configured to copy a mpv.exe command-line with the useragent and stream url. thats how i watch content from fmovies etc.

video player is always on top and i don't have to watch in the browser.

user-defined commands:
Code:
"C:\Users\Admin\Downloads\mpv-x86_64-windows-msvc\mpv.exe" --ontop --no-config --http-header-fields="User-Agent: %useragent%" --http-header-fields="Cookie: %cookie%" --http-header-fields="Referer: %referer%" "%url%"
