for their specific community..... someone like lebron is helping people in ohio... but why would he do the same for black folks in Arkansas?

came here to say this, all of these athletes and celebs need to do more for their own individual communities first and foremost.

trying to be a national savior is too big a task for them.

Above the fray.
I’m asking because it don’t ever seem to be enough:francis:

Am I wrong or am I focusing on the loudest voices that maybe small group :ohhh:

First thing I see it’s a “write off”

Or the infamous “that’s it??????” :scust:

makes me think no matter what you do it’s not enough

:patrice:

do you have to empty your bank account to be “real” :lupe:
You know the boxer Roberto Duran?

When the US invaded his home country of Panama everything was disrupted...work,school, food going to supermarkets, etc

RD fed and looked out for his people out of his own pocket............and people were still complaining.

David Banner fed, looked out for and PAID for bills/supplies for his people in MS after Katrina. He was personally doing what social agencies and the govt. normally does.
..and people were still complaining

They could, but should they? I think the better question is why do we put so much emphasis on celebrities? They are entertainers, not philanthropists. Some celebrities do contribute and donate towards noble causes, but this is something we should be looking for actual leaders to do. Celebrities aren’t community and political leaders, but the public is so infatuated with them that we expect them to react when any major issue happens and express contempt when they don’t do what we “expect” them to do.

They have no training for it

as you can tell one bad quote and they done out here no Collateral matters
One can do 9 things perfect

That 10th thing wrong and they in the bushes

I think we need more institutions created in black communities (STEM was mentioned) I don’t think only throwing money at out situation will help like most think it will.

Of course but they are all compromised because at the end of the day, they can't make money (at this moment in time) if white Hollywood doesn't let them make money

So they are effectively useless to us (right now)

If you do anything to help people and you're expecting praise, you're in the wrong business. Do it because it needs doing, or don't.

Only if they want to. There's no reason to expect for celebrities to do for people, while everyone else does nothing.
