I read the reference you linked, and I didn't read anything about the "g" in lasagna being silent...

i guess merriam webster didn't get the memo from @nineteeneightysix
:crossroads:
the "g" isn't silent in lasagna?
I read the reference you linked, and I didn't read anything about the "g" in lasagna being silent...
When you are saying "lasania" you are pronouncing the "g"...Or else you would be saying "lasana"...Another poster already referenced this, and now you posted a link that confirms it...
But you ain't even know it...It is "LASANIA" NOT "LASANA"...Case in point, the "g" is NOT silent...The "g" is pronounced an an "i"...This is common with some languages...
For example, Jelena, a common female name in Serbian/Croatian, is not pronounced like the "J" in Jullie it is pronounced like "Yell" i.e. YELENA...So, the "J" in Jelena s not silent, it is pronounced as "Y"
Conclusion, the "g" in lasagna is not silent...It is pronounced as "Nia" and not "Na"...

The line may seem dope to someone with a basic education...
But he doesn't really explain what lasagna has to do with being a real "g"...It is just a bad simile, because lasagna doesn't move at all...It sits on the plate until its consumed...
Hip Hop is so full of bad similes...One reason I stopped paying attention to lyrics, and I just started focusing on delivery...I am enjoying hip hop more this way...
Jay Z had a better line in one of his songs, where he rapped "Murder is hard to digest"...That's how you right a dope bar..It is very subtle and makes SENSE which way you break it down...
Or 2Pac's "We can't get peace, until nikkas get a piece too" Dope bar...

But the "g" in lasagna is NOT silent though...
The "P" in psychology is silent...But not the "g" in lasgna...Period.

we all know Wayne was just biting Kevin G when he made this
"Sh-sh-shaken not stirred, I'm Kevin Gnapor, the G is silent when I sneak in your door, and make love to your woman on the bathroom floor"
