The Amerikkkan Idol
The Amerikkkan Nightmare
I said Isiah Thomas was twice the player that Steph is.
I said that Larry Bird was the greatest shooter of all-time
I said they would regret firing Mark Jackson
I said the Warriors wouldn't win the championship because "jump shooting teams don't win the 'chip"
I said the media only likes Steph because he's "light-skinned" and "non-threatening" to White folks.
I said The Warriors were soft
I said they got lucky that they didn't have to face San Antonio
I said they got lucky Kyrie & Kevin Love got hurt & couldn't play in the finals.
I said Michael Jordan's Bulls would kill them in a Finals. Maybe even sweep them
I said the rules are too soft in today's NBA
But I kept watching 'em.
Time and time again, expecting Steph and the Warriors to be exposed.
When Matthew Dellavadova played pretty good for about 3 games against Steph and the Warriors, I said, "A-ha!, I told y'all they weren't that good, but even that didn't last. Eventually, Steph broke out of his shell and the Warriors handled a scrappy, but short-handed Cavs team with the greatest player in the world (at the time) on it.
But it's time for me to man up and admit that Steph Curry & The Warriors aren't like anything I've ever seen before in the over 30 years I've been watching hoops.
Yes, Jordan's Bulls were great, and I'd still take them over the Warriors because ultimately, I believe Jordan's the best player ever and Jordan/Pippen/Rodman is the greatest defensive combination in NBA history, and with Phil Jackson coaching, he'd be able to do whatever Zen stuff he does to his protoge in Steve Kerr.
But, I am no longer of the belief that The Bulls would KILL Golden State.
Oh yeah, I think they'd beat them, but I think it'd be frustrating as hell for them.
Just think about it.
You don't think the Warriors are better than Clyde Drexler's Trailblazers?
Charles Barkley's Phoenix Suns?
Kemp & Payton's Supersonics?
Malone & Stockton's Jazz?
Those teams all pushed the Bulls to 6 games and it took often times Herculean feats from Michael Jordan for the Bulls to pull it out against them in the end. Any of those series' could've been 7 games with the exception of the Seattle one.
Hell, Reggie Miller's Pacers took the Bulls to 7
You can't tell me that The Warriors aren't better than any team the Bulls faced during their 6 championship run.
The Warriors are not the greatest team in NBA history at this point (they're still young and apparently getting better by the game), but they are damned scary and when it's all said and done COULD be the single most dominant team since Jordan's Bulls
Steph is on an epic run statistically.
Last year, dude hit more 3's than anybody in history, led the NBA in steals, and free-throw shooting on his way to an MVP on a team that won 66 games with a first year coach
This year, dude upped his scoring average almost 10 points to averaging over 30 a game, shooting 50% from the field, as a 6'3" jumpshooter, and is leading the league in free throw shooting and might have a case for not just winning MVP, but also Most Improved Player, and oh yeah, dude's just probably gonna hit 200 more 3 pointers than anybody in history, breaking a record that he already owned.
Dude's PER rate is on track to be the greatest in the history.
Yup, that means as of now, dude is having the greatest season in NBA history.
This guy is a game changer.
This team is a game changer.
They don't take nights off.
They take care of business and beat you down. . . EARLY in the game.
They take every slight and turn it into motivation. They are more motivated to come out this year and win than the Cavs who they beat in the Finals. Even Lebron James has said this.
The next generations of kids are already forgetting about Kobe and LeBron and want to be like Steph Curry.
I say this for all my fellow
out there.
Let's stop hating and appreciating greatness that lets be honest, is unique and iconoclastic.
And to keep it 100%
Steph Curry is the very definition of #BlackExcellence
Dude has 2 Black parents, and a Black wife that seems to love him very much, and a beautiful Black daughter.
I'm done doubting the guy and questioning people's motives for crowning the dude.
He deserves it.
They deserve it.
