I put him in my top 10

Dude was perfectly funky

yeah, i think he wore the funk flag the best in all of hip hop

better than sermon, better than above the law, better than dre, better than quik (and i love quik's music) etc etc

shock was more like a direct nephew of george clinton with the funk in hip hop

funny you mention sermon ... i put him and shock G in my top 3 ... sermon's is basically gone out of hiphop discussion besides someone MAYBE bringing up EPMD but he basically never fell off. Shock G was basically an extension to me of funk ... he was flipping shyt clean and bringing live instrumentation to songs ... and being 1000% creative with his structure and songs. It was really amazing .. even doowatchalike is basically an extended funk mix when you listen to the 8 minute version ... they dont make music true to the culture anymore like that

fear of a mixed planet was pretty dope .. but got too R&B .. I wish he just stayed low down in that funk

i agree and i love that album too

i think we all use the word underrated a bit much sometimes but shock g is really underrated

bruh is nice on the keys and boards and flippin' samples

he really doesn't get his recognition

hmmm... wouldn't put those beats in the same level as Pete, Dilla or Dre but for that time it's really good.
